Project Description

BEATLES MONTHLY ISSUE 72

A promotional flyer can be found promoting this issue (picture 3), originating either from the Fan Club or, more likely, Beat Publications, but these are not common so distribution will have been quite limited. I’ve seen nothing similar for any other issue.

This month, as the flyer promises, Mal Evans reports exclusively on “Get Back”, which was planned to land in all good record shops the following month. Or maybe not. Derek Taylor reports on his troubles attempting a trip to America with John and Yoko and Ringo and Maureen on board the QE2. Most of the photos on the cover and inside record the Beatles boating on the Thames.

Centre: the Beatles on that “Mad day out”.

Meanwhile

Much studio time in July recording and preparing tracks for Abbey Road. The Plastic Ono Band’s Give Peace A Chance is released.

Another where the cropping of the cover photo gives the reprint away. There should be water visible at the bottom edge; on the reprint it is chopped off.
