Project Description

BEATLES MONTHLY ISSUE 66

A new year opens, with excitement of the Beatles’ concert growing. January the 18th is suggested as the big day and Johnny Dean reports there is hot competition for the free tickets offered in December. It is expected to form part of a TV show.

Centre: Mad Day Out, London, 28 July 1968, very much in full colour!

Meanwhile

In January the Beatles started the month preparing tracks for Get Back / Let It Be at Twickenham studios, with plans also for a live performance and TV show. Rehearsals don’t go well, George walks out and at his insistence they eventually move to Apple studios and plans for the live show are abandoned. On the 30th they play on the rooftop of Apple, their final live performance together as The Beatles. Yellow Submarine LP released.

Open the book to page 2, which you should see numbered at the bottom; if not, the book is a reprint. Like many later books, the photos are cropped. For example, on page 3, the photo of Paul, the whole of his right foot should be on the page. If it isn’t, you have a reprint.
