BEATLES MONTHLY ISSUE 59

Mal continues his own story of the Beatles in India. “Behind the Spotlight” is in June ‘66, with the Beatles on “Thank Your Lucky Stars” on TV and there is controversy in the U.K. press about those “butcher” photos. Hunter Davies devises his own Beatles quiz, and there’s a selection of fascinating facts from his forthcoming biography.

Meanwhile

In June the band are recording and mixing various tracks for the White Album throughout the month. On the 4th of June, Sean O’Mahoney and Leslie Bryce visit Abbey Road studios, where Leslie takes his last photos of the Beatles. The stage production of John’s In His Own Write debuts, attended by John and Yoko, plus George and Ringo. The Beatles buy Number 3 Savile Row, for Apple headquarters.
