In his editorial, Johnny says that Issue 1 is now completely out of stock!

Continuing “A Tale of Four Beatles” which includes early days playing Hamburg and Ringo’s work before joining the Beatles. Plus a feature on Neil Aspinall.

Meanwhile

In October they make their first of three appearances on Ready Steady Go. They continue their U.K. tour, and play the London Palladium for the first time, when it is said the term “Beatlemania” was first used in the press. Towards the end of the month they fly to Sweden for a week of live engagements.

Reprints

Reprints are quite easy to spot.

Firstly, the front cover: Original books show a black mark on John’s neck, which was an inking error by the printer. Early reprints do not have this mark as the original photo was used to reproduce the cover. Subsequent reprints copied the cover photo from an original book, so the mark reappears.

The foolproof way to tell is from the cropping of the back cover photo. Look at the trees, top left, cropped on the two reprints here.

Some reprints omit the black mark on John’s neck

The two reprints cut off the top of the photo.
